ADVENTURE
Enjoy the best of Tasmania’s tarmac and dirt roads with a sprinkling of bush tracks.
Hey Adventure Riders, once again we are excited to be coordinating the St Helens To Strahan Adventure ride (ST2ST ADV). The dates have been set, 22nd to 26th Oct 2020 (ride home on from Strahan on the 26th) so start organising your leave or extra days off!
The annual ST2ST ride is in its 14th year and it just keeps getting better. We will be joining the Enduro riders most evenings but through the day we’ll be on our own.
We have a fantastic route mapped out this year and it will be an ideal opportunity to give your bike a ‘proper’ run knowing you have support and backup with you all the way.
We will be meeting at the top of the Southern Outlet on the South bound lanes, just prior to the Kings Meadows connector from 8:30am onwards on Thursday 22nd Oct. We’ll load your bags, spares, extra bits and bobs into the support vehicle at this point. No need to ride like a pack mule! We will depart at 9am for a ‘transport’ stage to St Helens. For those joining us from the North West Coast we can stop for fuel at Perth.
The ride proper begins in St Helens at midday and we’ll be heading due West on Argonaut Rd. A bit of zigging and zagging on some Forestry roads before a quick dash up Jacobs Ladder on Ben Lomond. From there, more Forestry roads to take us through Nabowla and on to Bridport for the night. Dinner, drinks and tall stories will be at the Bridport Hotel.
Friday will see us depart Bridport, scoot around a few backroads before crossing the Tamar River on the Batman Bridge. We’ll then head over the Asbestos Range onto more back tracks and finally cross the Bass Highway. We’ll be stopping for a BBQ lunch and then a few more back roads, some brilliant tarmac twisties, a peek into Devils Gullet and then down the hill into Gowrie Park( Silver ridge retreat) . Dinner, drinks, war stories, lots of laughs etc etc. You should have plenty of time to explore Sheffield (just down the road) and refuel.
On Saturday we will be winding between the mountains and the sea several times as we explore great roads, forestry tracks and a couple of goat trails to reach our overnight destination at Stanley. Forests, waterfalls, fantastic views…..Don’t forget your camera!
BBQ lunch somewhere awesome and heaps of great roads. Again, plenty of time to have a poke around the area. The chairlift to the top of the Nut is worth having a look at as is the small township itself.
Sunday we are heading West to the coast. Marrawah, Arthur River etc and then South on the Western Explorer Rd (aka Norfolk Rd) to Corinna. We’ll explore some back roads, Granville Harbour, Trial Harbour and anything else that takes our fancy along the way. Again, we’ll providing a hot BBQ lunch.
When we get into Strahan, we’ll doddle out to Ocean Beach for a quick explore and a celebratory beer on the beach to celebrate the end of the ride as a group.
Dinner, drinks, tall yarns back in Strahan. The ST2ST One Day riders should be arriving at the finish line around 8pm (ish) so there’s always a bit cheering and celebrating their achievement.
Accommodation on the Sunday night is included as well as upgraded on last year so you can get up bright eyed on Monday morning and ride home. (please also see the ‘extension’ to this ride offered below).
The cost is $1489 and this includes 4 nights’ accommodation, all meals, support vehicle and support crew. This does not include a hire motorbike.
BMW Hire bikes are available.
